Whisper Rock is nestled away in the north Scottsdale desert. They have 36 holes separated into the Upper and Lower courses. The Lower course was the first course to open and the frisbee course designed by Phil Mickelson in 2001. The Upper course was designed by Tom Fazio in 2005 and known as "the Pine Valley of the southwest".

At over 7500 yards the Upper course poses a true challenge to the already difficult desert golf. To score well you must keep the ball in play and stay away from the cacti desert (I didn't do a good job of this).

Membership to Whisper Rock is by invitation only and there are only around 300 members with 20 Tour Pros. The average handicap at Whisper Rock Golf Club is a very respectable 8.
