I wrote this for my grandfather, who passed in June of 2021. I never got to come out to him prior to his passing, and to this day have residual grief about this. But! When I sing this song, I sing it to him, and I hope that if there’s a place where music can pierce through the ether to wherever he’s ended up, that he can hear and see the human I’ve proudly become.
