STORYLINE
US troops are working with the local authorities in the city of Kirkuk to work towards establishing an interim authority.
The city's currently under the control of Kurdish fighters who say they'll give up power when more Americans turn up.
In the meantime, however, locals are concerned with their most basic needs.
