Hundreds of people gathered in Dublin city centre this afternoon in a show of solidarity following last week's violence and unrest in the capital.
The Irish Congress of Trade Unions (ICTU) called on workers in the city to assemble at 1pm at the GPO on O'Connell Street.
ICTU said it encouraged and asked employers in Dublin city centre to facilitate their employees attending the demonstration of solidarity during their lunch breaks where possible.
"We are calling on workers working in the city centre to assemble at the GPO to show their solidarity with all the people of the capital and to clearly denounce this violence and riotous behaviour in a solemn and respectful way," said ICTU General Secretary Owen Reidy.
