Deposit guarantee mechanisms or deposit insurance systems as they are also called make it clear governments and central banks will do whatever they can do ensure depositors don't panic. The deposit insurance system of the United States is the FDIC, with similar deposit guarantee mechanisms being implemented across the European Union and elsewhere.
Today, we'll find out what deposit guarantees are and how these deposit insurance systems are meant to work. Ultimately, most people are asking one simple question: should deposit guarantees make them feel safe?
