The 3 Secrets of Fatima

In May 1917, in Portugal, three shepherd children named Lucia, Francisco, and Jacinta were playing when suddenly a beautiful lady appeared on holm oak tree. This lady was believed to be the Virgin Mary, the mother of Jesus. Besides asking for prayers and devotion, she revealed three secrets to the children.

The first was a vision of hell, where the children saw demons and souls in torment. The second secret predicted that World War I would end, but another great war, World War II, would begin in 1939.

The final secret was a vision of the persecution of Christians and an attack on a Bishop dressed in white.

This prophecy is interpreted as foreseeing the assassination attempt on Pope John Paul II in Saint Peter’s Square in 1981, which took place on the feast day of Fatima, May 13th.
