Rev Grace Kang-Ong delivers a timely and impactful message on "The Joy of the Lord is My Strength," derived from the Book of Nehemiah. Drawing inspiration from Nehemiah's unwavering joy in the face of challenges, she emphasizes the transformative power of choosing joy regardless of circumstances. Through practices such as prayer, Scripture meditation, and gratitude, Rev Grace Kang-Ong encourages individuals to cultivate joy as a wellspring of inner strength. By doing so, they can navigate life's obstacles with resilience and unwavering faith. Nehemiah was a man, just like us, with a profession and enjoyed a certain kind of status and wealth. However, he sacrificed his place of honour to do the will of God in his life. Let us discuss how we can be like Nehemiah and proclaim that, “The joy of the Lord is my strength.”
Question 1: Nehemiah completed the wall within 52 days but things had not been easy for him. Nehemiah faced many oppositions and grumblings from his enemies and his fellow builders too. There were even conspiracies and threats against Nehemiah. What did you learn from Nehemiah in handling God’s purpose and task for you?
Question 2: Nehemiah was clear of his call to build the wall. This was a very important task. The wall protected the people from outside threats, laid down the boundaries/ borders and gave an identity to the people. Think about your own life now. What are you doing to build a wall to protect what God has blessed you with?
Question 3: You are responsible to guard your heart, your eyes and your hands. You need to guard yourself and put God first. Once you’ve put your house in order, just like what happened to Nehemiah, the Lord will expose the enemies within the wall. Discuss.
