Run for the Myanmar Border Part 3 Video Details
Thailand, Day 4
In the last episode we spent two days in the dust to cover one day’s distance.
On the 4th day we would reenter the countryside and press harder to reach the Myanmar border. My visa would expire in less than 48 hours. The clock was ticking.
In the middle of nowhere we discovered an ancient temple mound and a statue.
As we approached the northern border we had to make a detour due to a military zone.
Civilization, or in this case, a paved road. The border didn’t look too promising. That was Myanmar over there. And the border was closed permanently.
Ok time to switch to plan B. My map showed another crossing half a day’s ride to the east. Ben found a rest area next to a street side crematorium
We continued to wind our way east to another crossing closed. Perhaps the map sucked.
It was time to find a place for the night.
Day 5
“Ok, my visa expires today so let’s switch to plan C.” I stated.
We raced to the east where another crossing was marked on my map. We encountered more checkposts as we got closer to the border.
By noon we had finally made it.
Getting into Myanmar was simple. All it took was money. $10 to be precise.
