Skoda is gearing up to introduce six electric vehicles (EVs) by the year 2026, with the spotlight on the Epiq, poised to be the most wallet-friendly model in the lineup. The launch is scheduled for next year, with an anticipated starting price of around €25,000, which translates to roughly $27,000 given the current currency exchange rates. Bearing the tagline "small but epic," the Epiq will be one of the first vehicles to exhibit Skoda's new design direction, dubbed "Modern Solid."
While Skoda has kept most of the Epiq's specifications under wraps, it has been disclosed that the vehicle will come equipped with a battery pack. This pack is expected to deliver a driving range exceeding 249 miles (400 kilometers), likely measured under the WLTP standard.
Constructed on the MEB Entry platform, the Epiq is designed primarily for electric vehicles that operate with front-wheel drive. This contrasts with the standard MEB framework, which underpins the larger Enyaq model and is configured for rear-wheel drive. The VW Group's more luxurious and powerful EVs based on the MEB architecture offer all-wheel drive through the integration of an additional motor at the front. Whether or not the vehicles built on the MEB Entry platform will eventually feature an all-wheel-drive option remains to be confirmed.
Skoda's "Modern Solid" design ethos is intended to enhance the robustness in the aesthetics of its future vehicles. In line with this theme, the Epiq features protective plastic cladding around its wheel arches and bare sections on the rear bumpers.
Differing from the Enyaq, which has its charging port positioned at the rear, the Epiq's charging port is located on the front fender. The vehicle is also adorned with striking orange accents both internally and externally, complemented by a unique light bar that stretches across its broad grille. Currently, the Epiq more closely resembles a nearly finished prototype, indicating that its design is likely to remain consistent up until its official release in 2025. Skoda describes the Epiq more as a design exploration rather than an outright concept vehicle.
