U-S envoy Carey Cavanaugh arrives in southern Cyprus Sunday night for talks as tensions remain high over the Greek Cypriot government's purchase of mid-range missiles.
Turkish officials have threatened with military retaliation to prevent the deployment of the Russian surface-to-air missiles in southern Cyprus.
The missiles, which are not due to arrive in Cyprus for at least another 12 months, will eventually be based at Paphos on the western part of the island.
Reports say Turkish chief of staff will be visiting northern Cyprus -- the Turkish Cypriot state.
