The Dutch Footballing Association will not be making a formal complaint after allegations that racist chanting was heard from the crowds where their Euro 2012 side trained in Poland yesterday. Concerns about the potential levels of racism during the tournament were heightened when the BBC's Panorama programme recently uncovered unquelled and overt racism on terraces in the Ukraine.
The Dutch team was out in training in Krackow ahead of their opening game against Denmark tomorrow night. The stands were packed with 25,000 people and it seemed they were well received with smiles and cheers throughout the crowds. But Captain Mark van Bommel says he clearly heard monkey chants from one end of the stand being directed at their black players, so he moved everyone, their equipment and training drills to the opposite end of the Wisla stadium. The Dutch FA said it will not make any formal complaint and - according to a comment made to BBC Sport -- to them, the matter is now closed.
