Lychees are little odd-looking tropical fruits that are most popular in China and Southeast Asia. They have a unique and sweet taste, and people eat their meat, removing the inedible rough skin.
Health benefits of Lychee
Lychees, like other fruits, are packed with vitamins, minerals, and antioxidants. These fruits are mostly carbs (most of them are sugar) and water. They are quite low in fiber, but because of the water, they are hydrating.
Lychees are mostly rich in vitamin C. Vitamin C is an important antioxidant. It is beneficial for your immune system, it protects the body from infections and diseases, and it can also help you when you have a common cold. It is also important for skin health; it helps form collagen. Vitamin C can reduce inflammation in your body and defends against free radicals, then can damage cells and cause some serious health issues, like cancer, diabetes, and health problems.
These little fruits are also high in minerals, like copper and potassium. Potassium is essential to heart health and can reduce the risk of heart disease, which is the leading cause of death worldwide.
Copper is an essential mineral in the body. It plays a role in making red blood cells, maintaining nerve cells and the immune system.
Lack of copper and potassium intake can have several adverse effects on your health. Lychees are rich in antioxidants that can play a role in reducing chronic diseases like cancer and diabetes.
Not many studies were made yet about lychees’ health benefits, but including them in your diet might be beneficial because of the minerals, antioxidants, and vitamins mentioned above.
