Welding out of position is sometimes necessary due to the size of parts or location of the welds, but these welds can be more challenging to complete.
Using short-circuit transfer for out-of-position welds can cause added rework stemming from lack of fusion, poor penetration and increased spatter. Switching to pulsed MIG provides manufacturers with the ability to weld a variety of joint types and positions. Compared to a short-circuit process, the Accu-Pulse® process from Miller — available on Deltaweld® systems — provides a significant reduction in spatter and a more forgiving arc. With pulsed welding, operations can reduce training time and minimize rework for out-of-position welds without sacrificing productivity. Learn more about how Accu-Pulse stacks up against short-circuit welding and the benefits pulsed MIG can deliver for out-of-position welds.
