What do doctors do for rotator cuff tendon tears? First, they're going to offer you medications. Then they're going to offer an injection. If those don't help, they're going to send you to physical therapy. If that doesn't help, they're going to send you to surgery. And a surgeon is going to do a rotator cuff repair where they so the torn edges together might also offer a Subacromial decompression, which is where they shave.

The bottom part of this bone here, this is part of the shoulder blade to allow more space for the ball to move there. And in extreme cases, especially one where there's a lot of arthritis, they may offer a shoulder replacement surgery. You've got to be careful with surgical options, though, because there is risk associated with that. You can get infection, a frozen shoulder if you have an accident right after surgery, you can injure the torn rotator cuff that they've repaired in and have to redo it again.

And in extreme cases, you can even get a nerve injury, which might not ever be the same again.
