A female leopard fell 30ft into a well while looking for water – resulting in a dramatic rescue attempt that was caught on camera.
The five-year-old big cat wandered into the farming village of Savidhane on Saturday night in Maharashtra, India, and fell into the well while thought to be trying to get water.
The animal was discovered frightened and struggling to stay out of the water when a villager went to turn on the well’s irrigation pump on Sunday morning.
Vets and other staff from Wildlife SOS, who co-run the Manikdoh Leopard Rescue Centre (MLRC), rushed to the scene and attempted to control the growing crowd.
