Mahindra has taken the SUV game to a new level with the Thar Roxx, but how does it stack up against its sibling, the 3-door Thar? We dive deep into the key differences between the Thar Roxx and the classic Thar, uncovering everything from design changes to performance upgrades. It is more than just about size, and trust us, there is a lot to talk about!
Let us dive into the details of Mahindra Thar vs Thar Roxx.
First up, design overhaul! The Thar Roxx flaunts a bold new grille, cheekily dubbed the "six-pack", along with sleek LED headlights and a cool C-shaped DRL setup that sets it apart from the Wrangler-esque vibes. Plus, it rides on 19-inch alloys, giving it an edge over the standard 18-inch wheels of Thar.
The extended body, 443 mm longer, to be exact, brings with it the convenience of a five-door SUV! But does this stretched-out Thar look weird? Surprisingly, no. The Roxx keeps things proportionately balanced, still turning heads without looking awkward.
Inside, Mahindra's gone for an upmarket twist. Think soft-touch materials, white interiors (bold choice for India!), and a 10.25-inch AdrenoX touchscreen at the top-end trim. The Roxx definitely channels a more urban-friendly vibe, while the Thar sticks to its rugged roots. Not to mention, the seats are comfier, the cabin feels roomier, and the tech is a step up. The regular Thar? Well, it is expected to catch up with some upgrades in next year's facelift.
On the safety front, the Thar Roxx blows the competition away. With six airbags, electronic stability control, 360-degree cameras, and Level 2 ADAS (yes, you read that right), the Roxx is packed with features. But don’t write off the regular Thar yet. It still has its classic rugged charm, with rear-wheel drive and four-wheel drive options, manual and automatic variants, and of course, that ability to go topless, something the Thar Roxx cannot match.
Cabin space? The Roxx takes the lead here too. The five-door design means extra room for rear passengers, complete with reclining seats and rear AC vents. The panoramic roof adds to the airy, spacious feel, a noticeable improvement over the more cramped three-door Thar.
Regarding handling, the Thar Roxx holds its own despite the extra length. While there is a bit of roll (as expected from an SUV this size), the ride quality remains surprisingly smooth, especially for backseat passengers. With a more powerful engine and greater torque, the Roxx delivers a driving experience as thrilling as it is comfortable.
At a starting price of just ₹12.99 lakhs, the Thar Roxx is competitively priced, making it a serious contender in the SUV market.
