이세돌 9단, 3국서 한돌에 불계패…최종 1승2패 '상금 2억'
South Korean Go master Lee Se-dol lost the final round of his three game retirement series against locally developed AI program Handol today.
After a nearly 5 hour long game held in Lee's hometown of Sinan County in Jeollanam-do Province, he admitted defeat on the 122nd turn.
Though the 36 year-old Go player won the first match on Wednesday, Handol took two victories, winning the overall game.
Lee will receive 172 thousand U.S. dollars as prize money for the first win.
Lee gained attention in 2016, when he made history by becoming the first human player to beat Google's AlphaGo.
But the latest game will be Lee's last competition as he decided to wrap up his 24 year career in November, citing AI as an entity that he could not beat anymore.
