Believe it or not there is a technique to scoring higher on the Push up portion of the PT test, and not just brute strength.

The pushup event is very important to score higher on, because since the max number is so low you can rack up a huge amount of points on the extended scale.
In this video I discuss not only the techniques to help you score higher, but also some tips and tricks on how to train for the push up event from a competitor, and special operator stand point.
The Army as a whole has changed the test for general purposes, but for the higher Army schools (Airborne, Ranger, RASP, Special Forces Selection) it has remained the same with 2 minutes of pushups.
Take this training plan and method to heart and you will not have an issue with maxing if the strength is there.
