We meet Amanda Dzeidzic, a Melbourne-based glass artist and owner of Hothaus Glass Studio in Heidelberg West. Subscribe 🔔 [ Ссылка ]
Amanda has been working with glass for almost 20 years, travelling around the world and Australia to be able to work in glass studios before setting up her own.
‘Plants can be food, medicine, shelter, there is so much variety, they are universal in their appeal and that is what appeals to me about them.’ She is inspired by nature to create delectable replicas of the vegetable world. ‘I have lines like my Yumemiru vessels that are based on Japanese bonsai and instantly identifiable as glass. But the exhibition works—the beets, the daikons, the botanical-themed works—they push the boundaries a bit more. Some people might think they aren’t made of glass.’
It is fascinating to watch Amanda and her team at work creating glass art, and we see them putting together a realistic beetroot using blown and sculpted glass elements. ‘Glassblowing, once you have it down and know what you are doing, is like a dance. Watching a well-skilled production team work together, there are lots of subtle movements, everyone knows their place as a team... for me, the team in full flight is the most beautiful thing to watch’.
