Every summer since 1947 Llangollen has staged one of the world’s most inspirational cultural festivals. Each year around 4,000 performers and as many as 50,000 visitors converge on this beautiful small Welsh town and its International Pavilion; to sing and dance in a unique combination of competition, performance, and international peace and friendship. Gema Citra Nusantara very proud became part of this event.
The Zapin Dance in Indonesia spread together with the spread of Islam that was brought by Arabic traders from the Hadramaut. In Arabic, Zapin is known as al raqh wal zafn. Of particular note is the opening movement of Zapin, which represents the symbol of the first letter in the Arabic alphabet: alif , representing the greatness of God.
