In the beginning of September we hiked 112 km in the raw nature of Swedish Lapland. Experiencing beautiful landscapes, wildlife and the northern lights.

With our self converted van we are currently roadtripping through Scandinavia. Hiking this trail was on our bucket list so we parked our van at the free parking lot in Abisko. With backpacks of around 20kg we took the bus from Abisko to Kiruna to take another bus there to Nikkaluokta, where our hike started.

We definitely recommend doing this hike early in september when the autumn colors starting to appear. The water in most of the rivers is drinkable just make sure it's clear water coming from upstream rivers and doesn't smell. Food wise bring enough but in emergencies you can buy canned food in the mountain huts. About every 15 km there is a mountain hut where you can sleep, warm up your food or take a sauna against a fee.

We completed the hike in 4 days sleeping in our own tent. But you can make it more comfortable by taking a day or two extra and making use of the mountain huts along the trail.
