The One Show viewers have endured quite a roller coaster of a time this week, as hosts Alex Jones and Matt Baker were split up. After discussing sitting apart from each other at the beginning of the week, Matt eventually decided to self isolate during the breakout of the coronavirus, leaving his spot on the BBC show's couch vacant. This horrific situation was made even worse by Matt's usual absence from Friday's show. Alex was due to be joined by Coronation Street Kym Marsh this evening - but tragedy hit once again. Just hours before the show, Kym announced on her Twitter account that she was unable to attend the show. She posted on her account: "Absolutely gutted that I can’t co host @BBCTheOneShow tonight. "So to be on the safe side I am following government guidelines and staying at home! I shall be there in spirit though! Xx" While fans of the show were already saddened to hear this news, Alex didn't address the cancellation. At the beginning of the episode, Alex simply introduced herself and went on to welcome stand-in host Chris Ramsey instead. She announced: "With me tonight is somebody who always chases up when he visits even - while keeping a safe distance. "Chris Ramsay welcome back! Things have changed since I saw you last." To which he replied: "Hasn't it just!" before commenting on their social distancing on the sofa. Earlier this week Matt Baker pulled out of the show, and then subsequently went on to announce he felt he had symptoms of the coronavirus. Speaking to The One Show viewers via video link, Matt explained: "Today, umm, I'll be honest with you right, I'm not feeling as good as I normally do. "I've wondered for a couple of days whether or not we've got it. “But certainly I'm feeling pretty tired and I've got this dry cough - I don't have a fever as such." He went on to speak about his self-isolation tactics, adding: "I have been going out today and trying to get a bit of fresh air and we're lucky here because we've got space in order to isolate in.” Trending Matt then gave some advice to others who will be self isolating in the coming weeks. He revealed: “I just wanna say if you've got a garden and you can get out, goodness me, it makes you feel so much better when you do go out and get some fresh air and notice the seasons around us. “I mean, here we are in the most beautiful of seasons of spring and I've just been going out, I've been having a look at the tulips are just sprouting at the moment.”
