And how lucky were we that we not only got a tour of THE VELO, but also had a GREAT conversation with Niklas Bostelmann! Super nice kid. Super smart kid too! Loved to hear his stories. As we’ve heard from others, the hardest part of this race might’ve been all the gawkers. The stalkers. The people pulling over to talk to him, following him taking pictures from their car windows. He said in Europe that might happen once a month. Here in the States during this race? Every day. Every hour. Maybe Deb and I were no better!!! And with all that, he STILL plans to come back and do it again. And shoot for that Velo record! When I told him he had less than 100 miles to do, he said in Germany he can do that in 3.5 hours. But then he added, that’s not at the end of a 4,200 mile bike race! Take it on in NB!! ALL THE WAY!! You’ve got this.
