As the 2019 general elections draw nearer, presidential candidates of leading political parties will have to state their positions on the issue of restructuring of the country before the elections in February 2019.
Spokesperson of the Handshake Across the Niger, Yinka Odumakin and a former Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, Professor Maurice Iwu, at a news conference in Lagos,said a restructuring summit has been put together to aggregate the thoughts of different individuals and groups in the country to discuss the way forward on many of the socio-political challenges facing Nigeria before some of the leading candidates including President Muhammadu Buhari of the APC and Atiku Abubakar of the PDP.
The group says the ultimate aim is to provoke a conversation that will properly guide the choice of Nigerians in the 2019 elections which they hope will address the issues,of disunity, social justice and equity in the country.
