Che Guevara started showing interest in social problems through reading from a very young age. His views were influenced by some of the greatest writers, including Kafka, Neruda and Faulkner. After enrolling in the University of Buenos Aires to study medicine, he went for a trip on a motorcycle across South America.
He saw many foreign-owned companies treat the residents almost as slaves and started regarding Latin America as one entity. Guevara was in Guatemala, where the US organized a coup because they weren’t happy with the president. There, Che met with Fidel and Raul Castro and together they planned how to take over Cuba from the dictator Batista.
Che focused on guerilla warfare and winning over the Cuban people and soon, Batista fled to USA and Che and Fidel made Cuba a communist country.
