This is the video representation of the review of the book- Tinka Tinka Tihar- on AIR FM Gold in 2017. The review is written by the known author Rajendra Upadhyay and is voiced by the popular announcer- Chandrika Joshi. This is edited and complied by the young radio enthusiast Harsh Vardhan. Most of the still footage has been clicked by Prashant Singh and Monika Saxena. This story was broadcast on AIR on the news chunk of Aaj Savere in the year 2017.

Vartika Nanda is a crusader for prison reforms and is the founder of the TINKA TINKA Project- initiated for the literary upliftment of inmates and undertrials.

Included in the Limca Book of Records (in 2015), Vartika’s book, Tinka Tinka Tihar (co-authored with Vimla Mehra, IPS, Former DG, Delhi Prisons) is the first book of collection of poems written by selected women inmates of Tihar Jail. Published in both English & Hindi by Rajkamal Prakashan, this book was released by the then Union Minister of Home Affairs, Shri Sushil Kumar Shinde at the APCCA Conference, Vigyan Bhawan, New Delhi in 2013. This book has set several records.

Background: Vartika Nanda is an academic by profession, a journalist by vocation and a prison reformer by passion. She has used the best practices of journalism and academia for studying and contributing to prison reforms. As the founder of Tinka Tinka Foundation, she has tirelessly worked for improving the conditions in India’s prisons, such as including the introduction of prison radio in District Jail, Agra and the jails of Haryana. She has authored three books on prisons. Her Tinka Tinka Jail Radio Podcasts are exclusive podcasts dedicated to Indian prisons. She is also called the VOICE OF DELHI POLICE for her regular podcasts with Delhi Police titled KISSA KHAKI KA.
Vartika Nanda was conferred with the Stree Shakti Puraskar by the President of India in 2014 for her seminal contribution to women empowerment through media and literature. Her name has appeared in the Limca Book of Records twice, for her unique contribution to prison reforms, which was also taken due cognizance by the Supreme Court of India in 2018.
