I have tried to explain the nature of the optical illusion caused by using ultra wide angle lenses, and how the camera measures the speed of the vehicle it is fitted to. It’s view of the world is quite different to ours in a few ways. If interested, search for the topic “compare the camera with human eyes”, and you will find a lot of available publications on this issue, e.g. ‘Cambridge in colour’ has a tutorial on camera vs human eye.
One of the facts of life is that our field of high resolution is quite narrow, and we normally scan around fields of interest to maximise our input (although staring at things has the opposite effect) - quite different from a camera dealing with a whole field at the same time. The camera can grab hold of items that we cannot remember later on, for that reason. Thus analysing a “snapshot” in the future is quite different to just observing things in real life.
