----to address this before the comments section gets hairy, this is NOT the lick Jake plays at the end of the Bark at the Moon solo. Its the scale sequence he does through Bb lydian, C mixolydian, and so on. I just stuck the pattern all the way through Bb lydian to demonstrate it more thoroughly----
Kids! Brand new episode of Weekend Wankshop with Uncle Ben Eller here! On lesson 79, i'm going to be showing you how to play a sick Jake E Lee style scale sequenced lick in Bb lydian. This is really messes with most guitarists the way its usually played, because it involves lots and lots of string changes. The more string changes you can eliminate in a lick, the easier it will become for the picking hand. So i rearranged the nots into a more linear fashion, so that once you hop onto a new string, you stay there until its time to change to another string, and so on. It eliminates all that awkward inside/outside picking you conventionally face with this particular sequence. Good stuff. Trying taking it through Bb lydian, C mixolydian, etc like Jake does in the Ozzy Osbourne classic original!!!
And to put this into Troy Grady Cracking the Code terms, this is an upwards pick slanting lick. The original way to play it is two way pick slanting, very tricky.
