The first incident of repentance that inspired faith is that of a young man from the past Muslim Ummah, the Children of Israel, who was very disobedient. So much so that the people of the city became disgusted and destroyed the city. As he walked, he reached a desert. The hardship of his circumstances overwhelmed him. He ran out of food and drink. Then he fell ill. Until he was seized by the disease and died. In this, he called out to Allah:
O the One Who forgives, does not decrease,
and punishes, does not increase. O Allah!
If by forgiving me there is a decrease in Your kingdom
or by punishing me there is an increase in Your kingdom
then
I have no question. O my Lord
My whole life has been spent in disobedience
to You
and I have not done any good work till today.
..O my Lord, today I have no companion, today I have no support except You. All ties have been broken.
Today my body has also left me.
Do not leave me alone.
So forgive me.
