Part 2 of the Polarization lab. A waveplate has two axes 90 degrees apart, called the fast and slow axes. For light of a given wavelength, the waveplate causes a phase difference between the light polarized along the fast axis versus along the slow axis. These plates cause either a 1/4 wavelength difference or a 1/2 wavelength difference for our 633 nm light. Can you think of a way to tell the two types of waveplate apart, and which is which?
