Taiwan President Tsai Ing-wen has departed for a 10-day trip to Central American allies Guatemala and Belize. But, the major highlight of her journey is her stopover in the US, where she is expected to meet with House Speaker Kevin McCarthy in Los Angeles. However, just hours before Ms Tsai's departure, China issued a stern warning against the trip, calling it a provocation. This has raised concern that Beijing could launch another round of large-scale military exercises around the island.
