One of my shorter Hampshire walks in the South Downs National Park, ideal to walk off your lunch at The Hinton Arms. Or a great short Christmas walk for Boxing Day.
In this walk we explore the springs around New Cheriton , the source of one of the worlds best and most important chalk streams , the River Itchen, known by fly fishing enthusiasts across the world.
We also explore a grand Georgian English country house and estate at the National Trust's Hinton Ampner Park. Join me as we step inside the estate church of All Saints and Hinton Ampner House itself, decked out for a 1930's Christmas where you are a guest of the 8th Baron of Sherborne, Ralph Dutton. A great little walk that will whet your appetite for the Battle of Cheriton , English Civil War walk ( Download a leaflet on the pubs website)
Walk starts and finishes at The Hinton Arms (Dog friendly), New Cheriton. 2.5 miles approx.
