Haji Kasam Tari Vijali is a musical play based on the novel by Shri Gunvantrai Acharya, who is the only novelist in Gujarati literature ever to have written over 30 nautical stories. The play explores lives of the Kharva (Sailor) community, known for their perilous, months-long voyages. The play revolves around the true event of the disappearance of SS Vaitarna, known as Vijali, alongwith her 700 passengers, in a cyclonic storm off Porbandar coast in 1888. The musical play explores love, separation, adventure, youthful ambition, and the enduring power of hope.
