Q&A about the video:
Q: How many girls did you ask?
A: Between 30-40, so 90% didn't want to feature in the video. Funnily enough the first 10 girls all said no, so my camera friend was starting to have doubts by this point, but I was very eager to get responses so I wasn't affected by the "no" responses and kept asking as many girls as possible. Once we got our first interview we got a massive confidence boost.
Q: How much did the video cost to produce?
A: Approximately $600. $100 to my friend who held the camera. $80 to the girls. $120 on the microphone. $300 to the editor.
Q: Why did you pay the girls?
A: The first 10 we asked without offering money all said no, and by this point we'd already wasted an hour walking around. I believe the reason they said no is because they saw it as all risk, and zero gain. Therefore, to give an incentive to participate I thought I may aswell pay each participant a tenner. This saved me a huge amount of time as we started getting a few "yes" responses. And as a man who values his time more than money it made sense for me to pay them because even if it saved me 1 day of extra filming it would've been worth it.
Q: How long was you out for?
A: 4 hours. We started asking at 11am and finished by 3pm.
Q: Why did 90% of girls say no?
A: The most common excuse was "I'm on my way to my lecture." However, I'm almost certain this was a lie in most cases because lectures at the uni start at exactly the hour. And when I explained to them the interview would only be 10 minutes and there was enough time they'd then think of another excuse. Infact, I even offered some of them to meet me after their lecture as me and my friend were there all day, but once again when I said this they'd think of another excuse. So, I believe the real reasons they didn't want to be in the video were:
1) Risk of being in a video that they may be judged
2) Scared of participating by oneself (this is why all 4 interviews were groups of 2, it's much harder to be in front of the camera by yourself)
3) Feeling self-conscious about appearance, lack of makeup etc.
Q: What was the most brutal "no" response?
A: A girl completely disacknowledged our existence when I asked her, she just kept on walking like we weren't even there, I found this the least polite. Thankfully this only happened once, most of the other girls gave fake excuses for why they couldn't participate but they were at least polite in their decline.
Q: Why did you ask the girls "one night", "date", "friendzone" or "never" instead of a rating out of 10?
A: Every girl has a different 1-10 scale. One girl's 8 might be another's 6. So to simplify it I decided to make only 4 options. Additionally, these 4 options line up almost to the 3 tier model:
Chad = one night or date
Normie = friendzone
Sub 5 = never
Q: Why did you select the men that you did?
A: I wanted as much variety as possible. I picked 1stman and Hamza as "hyper-masculine" archetypes. then Sam Dezz as a "prettyboy" archetype. Todd represents an older demographic who's slightly below average looking. Alex PWF had professional photos. Then James Tusk is a well-rounded Chad.
