Coming up at 4 PM EST on our latest Trade To Black podcast, Shadd and Anthony discuss why the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) rejected a request from the DEA to provide witnesses for the upcoming ALJ hearing on December 2, 2024, in Arlington, Virginia, concerning the rescheduling of cannabis.
As reported by Marijuana Moment, HHS—responsible for conducting the scientific review that led to the rescheduling proposal—declined the DEA’s invitation to have any of its staff testify.
“DEA made a request to [HHS] and its operating division, the Food and Drug Administration (FDA), to provide witnesses to testify before the Tribunal regarding the scientific and medical evaluations in the HHS Eight-Factor Analysis that is the basis for the Notice of Proposed Rulemaking, including the novel two-factor test applied by HHS for the determination of ‘currently accepted medical use,’” DEA said.
We’ll discuss the main reasons behind their decision to decline and whether this choice could have any ramifications.
Plus, it’s Wednesday, and we’re back with Seth Yakatan, Capital Markets Advisor for the cannabis industry. We’ll also dive into whether Agrify Corp. (NASDAQ: AGFY) stock can maintain its upward momentum. The stock has surged 175% over the past five trading days and over 2000% in the past month.
Finally, Aras Azadian, CEO of Avicanna Inc. (TSX: AVCN) will joins us to talk about how the medical cannabis market will look in the event the rescheduling of cannabis were to happen under the Trump administation.
Avicanna Inc. is a biotech cannabis company that has experienced substantial year-over-year growth. It is currently partnered with Sunnybrook Hospital, one of the most respected cancer hospitals in the world, located in Toronto, Canada. Additionally, Avicanna works exclusively with the cannabis program of Canada’s leading pharmacy retailer, Shoppers Drug Mart.
Lots to learn.
