Student groups in Delhi University who were against the Four year Under Graduate Program(FYUP) beat up a Delhi University professor who is a big supporter of the program in an arena where sensible debate about the issue was supposed to take place. Meanwhile the DU academic council claims that the UGC has no rights to cancel any DU academic initiative, such as the FYUP as the DU is an autonomous organisation. Meanwhile it is the NSUI & the ABVP, the Congress and BJP's student wings that have made this debate ground into a fisticuffs arena, say the people who witnessed today's brawl.
