The east coast has been experiencing significant smoke cover from the ongoing wildfires in Canada. While it’s bad for our health and a disheartening sight, it did provide a unique opportunity to demonstrate the potential of our Acuros® CQD® HD SWIR camera.

This week, members of our applications team were in Norfolk, VA and took the opportunity to capture some incredible long range imagery of a few bridges which were cloaked in smoke and haze across the water.

The result is stark - SWIR imagery provides clarity where normal vision fails as the longer SWIR wavelengths better penetrate the smoke and haze. Check out the video below to see the comparison for yourself.
