Update:
I now have new motherboard (Asus Crosshair V Formula-Z and FX8350 8-core CPU), so this motherboard solves the tiny cap issue, now both cards have breathing room + 8-core CPU takes the most of these cards, still running new games just fine @ 1080. not maxed out graphics, but Splinter Cell Blacklist runs @ 60-80fps with Shadows low, AA on 2x and tesselation off, rest on ultra (1920x1080).
I bought another 2GB GTX 550 Ti, these are actually discontinued so it was quite hard to get a hold of one, but i managed to get factory refurbished one (good as new) and im showing you unboxing, reviewing and SLI setup.
Also testing out my new toy called SnakeCamera, i bought it specifically for hardware inspecting and to get around wires and see behind PCs or even inside of them. Really good for reading tiny stuff off of hardware ..etc. Useful little gadget and cheap too (on ebay look for "usb endoscope camera" or "usb snake camera"
SLI benchmarking:
Crysis 3:
1920x1080, aax2
textures: medium
shadows: low
everything else: High
FPS: 30 - 60 (on a single gpu i got 15-20fps with same settings)
GTA IV:
1920x1080
shadows low
view distance 50
most stuff between low - high (water is high..etc)
Max FPS: 150 (inside house)
Low FPS: 40 (i don't think its due graphics, it seem to be stuck on cpu)
It does give huge performance boost in SLI, easy and cheap way of upgrading graphics card. I might still get GTX680 or GTX690, i just wanted to test out SLI. Should get you performance of GTX660Ti, however 550 has only 192 CUDA cores, while 660Ti has 1320 CUDA cores .. that's a huge difference.
Temperatures:
GPU1: 39C
GPU2: 45C
2 is the top one, it gets hotter because bottom one feeds hot air right into the fan.
Using MSI Afterburner, i have set custom fan speeds, so at 70C fan will be 100%, it should keep both cards @ 70C or under.
UPDATE: i tested my custom fan speeds and both cards stay @ 60C, very impressive temp for such video cards and fans are about 50% of speed really, 100% is too loud.
NOTE - with new motherboard, cap is a lot bigger, so temps never go over 65C under load and idle is 30-33C.
