This video responds to the 2022 international conference of family planning theme “Family Planning & Universal Health Coverage: Innovate. Collaborate. Accelerate”. I have shared about sexual and reproductive health challenge among young people in Tanzania, where the national accelerated investment agenda for adolescent health in Tanzania states almost 8000 young girls drop from school each year due to teenage pregnancy. The agenda further mentions that provision of SRH information to young people is among effective ways to end this problem.
To complement efforts to end teenage pregnancy, I joined young and alive in innovating a meta page called contraceptive conversations(Tuongee uzazi wa mpango), that responds to young people contraceptive questions.
We also collaborate with government stakeholders and other civil society organizations in rural areas like Makete, in ensuring they engage young people in any decisions related to sexual and reproductive health and rights. My favorite activity we did with AGYW in Makete was analyzing some root causes that leads AGYW to have reduced capability in making decisions of various issues, including decisions about their body and choice to family planning. We used these analysis to inform communities, governments and civil society.
