This purple sweet potato flower is too gorgeous to keep to myself. Supposedly purple sweet potatoes don't flower very often and are said to bring good luck. Purple sweet potatoes are popular especially in Rota with lots of shipments and family bringing them to Guam. These sweet potato leaves are edible, and in fact quite delicious tasting just like sweet potatoes.
Growing and harvesting vegetables right from the backyard in Earthboxes or kiddie pools, or maybe the garden bed in your lancho, to make delicious Guam food is the ultimate in Chamorro cooking. I live in Holly Springs, NC, a suburb just outside of Raleigh in zone 7b, and I’m excited to bring you garden goodies to make your Guam food even more special. After all these years of writing about Guam food, and making Guam food videos, this is going to be a fun era of expanding on my Guam recipe endeavors.
