Built on the migratory route of an ancient leviathan is the enigmatic Shimrah Temple (aka the Leviathan Shrine). Astroarcheology shows architecture from both Vy'keen and Gek, although carved inscriptions show symbology of a largely unrecognisable language.
The majestic Shimrah tree, for which the temple is named, is thought to be several thousand years old. Exobotanical studies have revealed that certain compounds in the tree's blossom closely mimic pheromones of the leviathan, distracting it enough to pause on its journey and for the monks to presumably give blessing. The migration is long, with the arrival of the leviathan coming only once every sixteen years.
The colossal fossilised worms belch forth a constant fire which draws the blossom up, with a high altar being a relatively late addition to the structure.
It is interesting to note that although it has only been recently discovered that leviathans possess telepathic abilities, it would seem the builders of this temple were aware of this centuries before, possibly even conversing and sharing knowledge with these glorious animals. #nomanssky
