Hometown Heroes Podcast: Meet Buck Kern – COO of One Tribe Foundation & Founder of W-A-T-C-H
In this episode, we sit down with Buck Kern, a man whose passion for serving military families and first responders has shaped his remarkable career. Buck is the Chief Operations Officer at One Tribe Foundation and the creator of W-A-T-C-H—“We Are The Children of Heroes.” This unique program supports children who’ve lost a parent in the line of duty since 9/11/01, offering them hope, resources, and a sense of community.
Buck’s dedication to service is grounded in more than 40 years of leadership experience across retail management, corporate Loss Prevention, and law enforcement. From his early days at the San Diego Police Department to his time as a Director at Neiman Marcus, Buck constantly sought ways to protect, empower, and uplift others. Eventually, his love for helping military families led him to become CEO/Executive Director of Snowball Express—a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization serving children of fallen military heroes. Under his leadership, Snowball Express hosted the world’s largest annual gathering of these families, eventually merging with the Gary Sinise Foundation in 2018.
Buck also grew up in a military family, with his father serving 30 years as a Naval Intelligence Officer. Frequent moves and life abroad shaped Buck’s world view, reinforcing the importance of supporting those who protect our freedom. Today, he continues that mission through One Tribe Foundation and W-A-T-C-H, ensuring that no child of a fallen hero is forgotten.
Join us as we explore Buck’s incredible journey, the life-changing programs he leads, and his vision to honor and support the next generation of heroes. Don’t miss this inspiring conversation on the Hometown Heroes Podcast!
