Glog je grm ili manje stablo, raste samoniklo po rubovima šuma, na sunčanim mjestima, uz ograde i živice. Pripada rodu: Crataegus, ima oko 380 priznatih vrsta gloga.
Najpoznatiji su:
-Bijeli glog ili obični glog (Crataegus monogyna) bijelih cvjetova i crvenih plodova sa 1 sjemenom
-Crveni glog (Crataegus oxyacantha), crvenih krupnijih plodova sa 2 sjemena, koji cvjeta ranije
Ljekoviti dijelovi biljke: svježi cvjetovi u početnom cvatu bez gnječenja, listovi, te zreli plodovi. Zreli plodovi se beru u jesen bez peteljki, koje se mogu naknadno ukloniti. Glog je medonosna biljka, koristi se za čaj, tinkture, sirup, kompote, pekmeze, žele, jestivi su cvjetovi, mladi listovi i plodovi.
Plodovi sadrže:
procijanide i flavonide za blagotvorno djelovanje, eterično ulje, tanin, saponin, glikozide i fruktozu, te aluminijum, kalijum, natrijum, kalcijum i soli fosforne kiseline.
Glog je među biljkama sa najdužom tradicijom, koristi se kao ljekovita biljka za srce i krvožilni sistem, nervozu, umor, protiv starenja, smetnje u klimakteriju, bronhitis, kašalj, šum u ušima, zglobove, probavne tegobe, loše pamćenje...
Studije o glogu su ustanovile da je on sigurna i dobro podnošljiva biljka, dok se trudnicama i dojiljama ne preporučuje njegova upotreba.

Hawthorn is a shrub or smaller tree, growing wild on the edges of forests, in sunny places, along fences and hedges. It belongs to the genus: Crataegus, there are about 380 recognized species of Hawthorn.
The most famous are:
-Common Hawthorn, Oneseed Hawthorn, or Single-seeded Hawthorn (Crataegus monogyna) with white flowers and red fruits with 1 seed
-(Crataegus oxyacantha), red larger fruits with 2 seeds, which bloom earlier
Medicinal parts of the plant: fresh flowers in the initial bloom without kneading, leaves, and ripe fruits. Ripe fruits are harvested in autumn without stalks, which can be removed later. Hawthorn is a honey plant, used for tea, tinctures, syrups, compotes, jams, jellies, edible flowers, young leaves and fruits.
The fruits contain:
procyanides and flavonoids for beneficial effects, essential oil, tannin, saponin, glycosides and fructose, as well as aluminum, potassium, sodium, calcium and phosphoric acid salts.
Hawthorn is among the plants with the longest tradition, it is used as a medicinal plant for the heart and circulatory system, nervousness, fatigue, anti-aging, menopausal disorders, bronchitis, cough, tinnitus, joints, indigestion, poor memory ...
Studies on Hawthorn have established that it is a safe and well-tolerated plant, while its use is not recommended for pregnant and breastfeeding women.
