Mumbai's first underground metro line is Line 3, also known as the Aqua Line or Colaba-Bandra-SEEPZ line, stretching 33.5 kilometers from Navy Nagar in the south to Aarey Depot in the north . This underground line features 27 stations and one at-grade station, connecting to other metro lines, monorail, suburban rail, inter-city rail and Mumbai's International Airport .
The metro line is designed to reduce road congestion and alleviate pressure on the Western Line between Bandra and Churchgate. Construction faced environmental and safety challenges, including protests over tree cutting and potential flooding risks.
