We can't help loving Kyoto. The pace is what you make it and there are so many rich cultural experiences to have. Just riding the bullet train is a thrill but when you get there just follow your nose. We were staying near the Kamo River, so immediately found ourselves going for a lovely walk along the banks. We stopped at a few different food destinations along the way for yummy Okonomi, exquisite Yakitori and a unique self-heating take out! A couple of Shrines caught out attention - Yasaka was peaceful and inviting to visit in the evening, but we especially liked Shimogamo where we spent a couple of enchanting hours. We also went for a walk in the grounds of the Kyoto Imperial Palace, thrilled to see the vast park that it has become.
