Women across the Americas are being warned of a threat that could lead to an "explosive pandemic": the mosquito-borne Zika virus. Circumstantial evidence points to Zika as the cause of a spike in babies born with brain damage and shrunken heads, known as microcephaly. It could take a decade to develop a vaccine.
