The New Culture Forum proudly presents "White Privilege? The Demonisation of the White Working Class", the second in its new "Heresies" documentary series. "White Privilege?" is written & presented by Michael Collins, the George Orwell Prize winning author of "Likes of Us: An Official Biography of the White Working Class".

The white working class is demonised. In the wake of the Stephen Lawrence inquiry, they were cast as wholesale racist cattle by the liberal press, the rightwing press mock their tastes and attitudes; they take to the streets when paedophiles and asylum seekers are in their midst, they expose their lives in TV documentaries, they love Gucci and hate the Euro...

Michael Collins was brought up in Elephant and Castle, where his family had lived for generations. In this new documentary he returns to his roots to expose the reality of what happened to the area -- and by extension to much of the country -- over the past few decades, as well as the indigenous population, their culture and way of life.
