Former Brexit Party leader Nigel Farage says Australia may stay with the monarchy or “become a dreary republic” as the United Kingdom’s influence continues to weaken.

“That’s entirely up to you to make that decision … whatever happens, of course, Australia will be a member of the Commonwealth,” he told Sky News host Paul Murray.

“The Commonwealth is this big club of nations; we speak English, have shared histories, have been through triumphs and disasters together, all of us.”
