The Royal Papua New Guinea Constabulary has a capacity for 13,415 positions but only 6,227positions are occupied, making it one policeman serving every 1,600 people in the country when the average global ratio is one policeman to 450 people.
Minister for Police, Peter Tsiamalili Jnr revealed this recently during the Coalition Leaders’ Meeting when government leaders met to initiate discussions on the 2025 National Budget.
