MARBLE CAKE RECIPE
A marble cake is a cake with a streaked or mottled appearance achieved by very lightly blending light and dark batter. A simply PERFECT recipe for the all-time classic cake! The vanilla and chocolate marry beautifully in texture, yet pleasantly contrast in colour and flavour.
INGREDIENTS:
Oil - 1/4 cup
Curd/yogurt - 1/2 cup (substitute 2 eggs or 1/2 cup condensed milk)
Sugar - 1/2 cup
Flour - 1 cup
Baking powder - 1 teaspoon
Baking soda - 1/2 teaspoon
Milk - 1/4 cup
Cocoa powder - 1 tablespoon
Water - 1 teaspoon
HOW TO MAKE THE RECIPE
- Preheat the oven to 180 degrees C and line an 8-inch pan with circles cut from parchment.
- Take oil, curd, sugar in a large mixing bowl, and stir to combine.
- Sift all-purpose flour, baking powder, and baking soda and stir to combine.
- Add milk gradually while stirring.
-Scrape the bottom and sides of the bowl with a silicone spatula.
- Divide 1 cup of the batter and stir the cocoa and water together in a smaller bowl.
- Add 2 tablespoon plain batter and 1 tablespoon cocoa mixed batter alternatively to the pan till the batter is fully used.
- Bake the cake for 30 to 40 minutes at 180ºC, or until a toothpick inserted in the thickest part of a cake comes out clean.
- Cool for 20 minutes in the pan, then invert onto a wire rack to cool completely
